Kimbolton Sculpture Festival Artist Information Pack

The Kimbolton Arts and Sculpture Trust (the “Trust”) invites artists to exhibit their artwork in The New Zealand Rural Sculpture Festival Art Exhibition on 5th April 2025.

Artists are invited to submit their intention to enter their artwork in the exhibition on the Artist Registration Form. Entries may be in any medium including painting, drawing, printmaking, mixed media, photography, textile arts, or handcraft. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.

The total number of exhibits will be determined by the organizers, therefore there is no guarantee that your artwork will be accepted.

Once registrations are closed on 1st March 2025 the organizers will invite selected artists to complete a detailed registration form which must be returned no later than 20th March 2025. Priority will be given to local artists.

Agreement Conditions

  1. Artwork must be original, not copied and the sole work of the artist.

  2.     Artwork must have been completed within the last two years, be completely dry and suitably presented for exhibition.

  3. Artwork must have the artists name, title, medium, and price (if applicable) on a Swing Label (to hang over the front of the work) as well as written on the back of the work.

  4.    Be for sale on the day of the festival unless indicated on the entry registration.

  5. MUST have D Rings attached no more than 75mm from the top for hanging on our system. Small works with deep frames put D Rings closer to the top.

  6.    Size limit restrictions: 2D works – maximum of 1.25m on longest edge.

  7.    The Artist agrees that images of works may be used by the Kimbolton Arts & Sculpture Trust for promotional purposes.

  8.    Exhibits must be delivered to the festival site between 11:00am and 4:00pm on Friday 4th April 2025.

  9.    Exhibits may not be removed from the festival site prior to 4:00pm Saturday 5th April 2025. All exhibits not collected prior to 4:00pm Sunday 6th April 2025 will be deemed to be the property of the Kimbolton Arts & Sculpture Trust, to be disposed at its discretion.

  10.   Artists or a representative must be present during the festival hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm

Agreement terms:

Sale of artwork:

Artwork that an artist agrees to sell will be subject to the following Exclusivity of Sales clause, which applies during the festival and for an additional 30 days afterward.

Exclusivity of Sales

The Artist agrees to grant the Festival Organizer exclusive rights to sell their artwork designated for sale on a commission basis on the day of the Festival and for a period of 30 days thereafter. The artwork will be featured on the www.ruralart.nz website with all sales processed through the Kimbolton Arts & Sculpture Trust bank account.

Commission Structure

The Festival Organizer will receive a commission of 20% of the sale price (GST incl) for each piece of artwork sold during the exclusivity period. The remaining 80% of the sale price will be paid to the Artist.

Payment Terms

The Festival Organizer will remit payment, via internet banking, to the Artist for artwork sold, minus the commission, within 3 days of the sale of the artwork.

Artwork Display and Sale

The Festival Organizer will handle all aspects of the display of the artists artwork at the festival and promotion and sale thereof, including pricing, marketing, and transaction processing, for the duration of the exclusivity period.

Promotion and Marketing

The Festival Organizer agrees to display and promote the Artist’s work on the www.ruralart.nz website, Kimbolton Sculpture Festival facebook page and @Kimsculpture Instagram site during the exclusivity period, as deemed appropriate.

Freight

Delivery costs of artwork sold from the website is the responsibility of the purchaser.

Delivery

The delivery of sold items at the Festival is the responsibility of the seller in conjunction with the purchaser. Sold items may not be removed until after the close of the festival but all sold items must be removed from the Festival site by 5pm Sunday April 6th 2025.

Liability.

Liability for the goods (such as damage or loss during shipping) lies with the seller until the goods are delivered to the buyer. The Kimbolton Arts & Sculpture Trust (the organizer) does not accept any liability for delivery, loss or damage to the artwork during shipping at any time.

Disputes.

The Kimbolton Arts & Sculpture Trust (the organizer) will not undertake to resolve any disputes arising from the sale and purchase transaction. The Trust recommends that any unresolved disputes arising from the sale and purchase of the artwork should be taken to the Disputes Tribunal.

Security and Insurance

The organizer undertakes that all care will be taken to ensure security of the works for the duration of the festival, it is however the responsibility of the artist to insure their work if they feel it is necessary. In other words, the Trust takes no responsibility for loss, damage or theft of any artwork exhibited during the opening hours of the Festival. The Festival organizers advise artists that they are responsible for ensuring that only they uplift their unsold exhibits from the designated spot after the closure of the festival.

Timeline summary:

1st March 2025 5:00pm. Last registrations day for interest in exhibiting an artwork.

20th March 5:00pm. Last day for selected artists to register a detailed registration form.

4th April 11:00am - 4:00pm artwork deliveries accepted.
